  1. Its not that difficult really. I am pretty much an idiot and have it figured out. I simplified the inputs to what I use most, no different really than any other shooter on console. I still use the kbm for some features, for instance the scroll wheel functions i still use that. I just prefer the movement and aim of the sticks. Plus I have already done all the hard work in making it user friendly.

Have fun fat fingering the keys and blowing us all up though.

  2. I used XPADDER. Its ten bucks but works like a champ. Takes a little tweaking but is very in depth on how you can setup your controller. click, double click, hold, if analog stick is pressed less than 50% this, if more than this) If you get it, which I recommend as a fellow hater of the kbm for shooters) I can share my profile for Arma with you (copy and paste) to give you a foundation to start with.

  3. That is correct. Get whatever download you can afford, but Kotaco and I both went with the version that comes with the DLC. For an extra 15 it was worth it. Even if you dont have the DLC we can play together. Go ahead anf forward some ports on your router too. Thats awesome, a 4th person in the squad now!

  4. The amount of keybindings in this game is mind boggling for sure. Move to the campaign though and you'll start to get comfortable with it. U can haz more RAM?

  5. By that time we will have established a strict training regiment and you will need to complete our boot camp before actually getting to play.

@ Andy: Memory for a board that runs the processor you probably have is cheap. RAM can compensate for other pc rig shortcomings. You 64bit?

  6. The processor seems to be holding up just fine and I am running on the graphical setting of "high" and its nice and smooth. I haven't played online yet but have been working through the Campaign. I gotta say that I am really in to this. It is tactical, realistic, and extremely immersive. It is definitely not anything like a console shooter.

Running around and trying to be Lone Wolf will get you cut to shreds in an instant. You need to work with your team to gain a better position to direct fire on to the enemy. If you're sprinting and then try to aim and shoot you wont hit a damn thing. One of the first things they teach you in combat training is the importance of cover and concealment, IN THAT ORDER. This game represents it well. The first thing in marksmanship they teach you is the importance of a stable shooting position, this game does that very well too. Reticle sway is very reminiscent of S2, as if SOCOM would of been continuously developed by David Sears himself, this is what it would of achieved.

It took me a better part of a week to get the Dual Shock set up the way I like it, and it did require a third party bit of software. Also a profile from a guy that plays this game like its his job, for said 3rd party software. I used it as a base, and then changed some of the mapping around to suit my playing style. Just night before last I also plugged in my flight stick I bought for Kerbal, and setup on that was a snap. Now I just need practice. At this point I could get us to the LZ, buuuut would probably kill us all trying to land.
