When We Left Earth: The NASA Missions

If you are at all a fan of NASA and or the space program, this is a must see. I originally caught it on a Saturday morning on the Science Channel a good six months ago. Its a six part series that chronicles the United State's foray into the great unknown.

Starting with the Mercury missions and the race with Russia to put a man in space, through the Gemini and Apollo missions where humanity reached one of its single most greatest achievements (walking on the moon), clear through the Space Shuttle program and the International Space Station (ISS). Tons of never before seen footage from these endeavours into space and excellent inside information on the trials and tribulations of man, leaving the planet he has been bound to for centuries.

Every know and than they will run it on Discovery or Science, however I highly recommend picking up the BluRay set (about 30 bucks on Amazon) as it comes with a ton of extra footage that was not on the telecast-ed version. It comes with one whole disc of nothing but mission footage.

Just a recommendation, but I promise you, even if you have only been mildly curious about what NASA does or why we spend money on it as a nation, watch this and you will know.

Us humans can do ANYTHING we set our minds to when we all work together.
