I've been looking around for one and with the onslaught of alternative tablets to the ones listed above, it's a hard choice. Viewsonic has a good one called the gTablet that looks solid, and it's only $259 right now. Anything with Android is the way to go, since if you don't like the OS you can flash a new one on quite easily. There are some awesome ROMs out there too, like CM7. The ipad2 camera is shit but good enough to FaceTime. What sells to me from apple is there os is the best.. But I would wait for ipad3 it promises retina display and a 5mp camera with a gig of ram.. At the same time though I was with you my first tablet was a samsung galaxy tab, which was a disaster, it was clunky and I would do most simplest tasks like put mp3's on it and would play it once and afterwards it would say unsupported file format. Either way it was a bad experience and I don't rely on iTunes there so many apps out there you don't have to rely on iTunes for music and movies.. Jail breaking also gives it many more features.. I will not say apple owns android because to each there own, but with apples 80% of the market they must be doing something right.. STILL THEY ARE OVER PRICED!!! I recently got an LG Optimus One that had Android 2.1 on it. It fucking sucked. Unresponsive touch screen, bloated software, sluggish performance. All because LG fucked with the kernel and OS. I installed CyanogenMod7 that someone had modded for the LG and it works fantastic now. The thing Apple has over Android is that it's only one company making any modifications (fully supported anyways) and they know exactly what hardware the OS is going onto. Android is on so many different phones it's up to the hardware manufacturer to come up with a compatible version of the OS, so they fuck around and ruin it.
