[mXm] BOLD Edition
I remember this game being announced around the time of PAX East 2014 and was interested in it; I believe at the time it was for sale, though and so I passed on it. On a whim I looked into it today and found that it was in fact free and so I downloaded it and easily lost an hour playing the game on my Vita. The game itself is a cross between Pokemon, Final Fantasy and Magic the Gathering in that you're collecting spirits, playing them strategically in semi-turn fashion and there is a heavy fantasy element for the different types of characters you can wield. It is also a global, location based game where "friending" people will allow you to collect spirits from other territories (Asia-Pacific, EU, Americas, etc). There is an advantage to this (re, gotta catch 'em all). Now that I think about it, I originally passed on the game not due to the price, but the location based aspect. I believed (incorrectly) that I had to move around all the time with my Vita in order to get the 'best reception' so to speak. So far, the game has been enjoyable; the primary objective is to catch spirits and rid the planet of the evil ones. There are daily raids versus big bosses and your "daily grind" (for all you MMO types) is basicaly the spirit collection, hunting and clearing areas. I love when a game exceeds your expectations and becomes and instant favorite.
[mXm] 404 Not Found
I will download it today and check it out. I never played the games you mentioned, but the closest thing I can think of is FATAL FRAME. That was scarier than any Resident Evil game and the idea behind it was fascinating. I hear there is a new one in the works somewhere. Does it have a Monster Hunter feel to it as well? The logo looks similar to Monster Hunter's. [mXm] BOLD Edition
I never played Monster Hunter, but the concept of capturing beasts/spirits/creatures and using them to battle others like them is the premise behind Destiny of Spirits, really. [mXm] andy19
Also sounds like the premise behind Pokemon :P
[mXm] BOLD Edition
I did mention Pokemon in my initial post ;) I think it draws heavily from that social aspect of Pokemon and Magic. I remember going to meetups for both games before that was really a "thing".
