Dirt 3

If you're intrigued by Codemasters' upcoming rally racer Dirt 3, but find yourself turned off by all the ... um, rally racing, the developer recently revealed a multiplayer-oriented "Party Mode" which might just float your boat. The mode will feature three distinctly non-racing mini-games, including: [*]"Invasion," in which players drive around an open lot, crashing into cardboard robots while avoiding cardboard skyscrapers. We anticipate this will be harder than it sounds, as some skyscrapers seem to resemble giant robots nowadays. [*]"Outbreak," which sees one player "infected" with some sort of automotive ailment, symbolized by their car turning bright green. The player can spread the disease to others by colliding with them, and the last healthy player wins the pot. [*]"Transporter," a capture-the-flag title where players must grab randomly-spawning flags and return them to their home base, avoiding their fellow, flag-snatching drivers. Jason Statham appears to be regrettably absent.

Sounds pretty fun to me. I really enjoyed Dirt 2, and I think with the right group this could be a lot of fun.
A few more modes like this would be ideal though, I could see these 3 getting old after many repetitions, but having 5 or 6 in a mixed-mode type party would bring long nights of rally games.

More info

Some highlights include:

This time around, Codies are bringing the focus back to rally, the grueling motorsport that made the franchise famous.

[*]59 more tracks than Dirt 2 [*]Sharper focus on rally racing (60% of the game) [*]Improved weather effects (pioneered by F1 2010) [*]Snow is available as a driving surface [*]New modes, including gymkhana (which is nuts) [*]Split-screen multiplayer [*]Quick and easy YouTube uploads [*]WRC licensed content [*]Compound, an obstacle-strewn playground [*]Improved damage modeling that will shred tires

The car list reads like a rally fan's wishlist. Celebrating the most iconic cars in the sport's history, Dirt 3's garage represents rides from the 1960s to the present day, right up to legendary driver Ken Block's feisty Fiesta

Dirt 3 is scheduled for global release on May 24.

That's one thing I love about rally racing, one little bump off track and you can easily be thrown off into the trees/buildings/spectators.
I could never get into using my Logitech wheel for Dirt 2, it was too sensitive and twitchy to use.

I still need to buy Dirt 3.

I did get in a good run though. Unfortunately you can only upload 30 second clips through the uploader in the game, so I wont be posting full runs like I did here unless its something truly spectacular. Also, only loads up in SD, and it takes about five minutes per 30 second video to get it up loaded.

Wow, what happened there? AI spun their car?
That's another thing I liked about Dirt 2, the AI actually fuck up. They don't drive perfect 100% of the time.

That is exactly what happened, I was gaining on the AI cause I could see the little dot on my mini map, so I started to push a little harder to see if I could pass him, three or for corners later I was needing to dodge him. Tons of fun.

That statement was a little confusing. I'm not sure if ya like the codriver or not.

I definitely do. From watching years of WRC rally coverage on whatever network I could get it on (currently HDNET)I have learned pace note "speak" and when he says 80, 5 right, over crest, 30, 4 left into 3 right, caution bump, stay left, I know it means 80 meters till a right that I can almost take flat out, that's going over a slight rise in elevation, than 30 meters into a slightly sharper left hand that I might have to gear down once to be in the right RPM range that immediately goes into a sharp right that has a bump on the right side of the course that I should avoid by staying left through the turn.

Because I know the lingo, I really never look at the mini map, and dont have to take my eyes off the course. With Trailblazer, Im so alone...lol, and do a bit more wrecking untill I learn the course.

I guess you could say I'm indifferent haha There are aspects of both with and without navigation that I like.

I learned the lingo too, but sometimes my mind is focused more on driving and I miss things or two that the navigator is telling me, so I do tend to look at the map more often.
