I like doing that so I can see where I am losing time.
[mXm] andy19
I must also note that I use AUTOMATIC transmission when I use the controller...I don't know what it is, but I can't use manual with anything but the wheel. It just feels more natural. Okay, new car/track/time. Eiger Nordwand Lotus Evora Auto transmission Professional physics, all aids OFF. 1:17.280 It's pretty hard keeping the back end in control with all the tight turns and hills/dips. [mXm] BalzOnYer4Head
That might have something to do with your two seconds, you lose a ton of time over the course of the track by letting the transmission do all the thinking. I had a feeling you were going there. That track is fun though. Ahh the Evora. Lets see what I can do.

[mXm] andy19
I'm actually quite happy with that, under a second out. I was pretty much expecting an ass-kicking in this one (and all of them to be honest)
[mXm] BalzOnYer4Head
I had a 14 or low 15 going the lap before that but that last corner I got a little excited and smacked the wall. Lap was invalidated. That car has a nice little drift to it. Took a few laps to get used to its mid engine tail happiness.

[mXm] BalzOnYer4Head
1'00"686 Same settings. I hate that f'ing track. Roads are too skinny and you have to use the rumble strips to run a fast lap, only problem is those things really upset the suspension, and if you're on the gas or brake to hard or soft, you can get any number of outcomes, all usually ending with you invalidating your next lap. :( Like the 350 though, I surprisingly had to buy this one as well. [mXm] andy19
I agree completely on the track. I picked it for that exact reason. I'm happy with the results of that too considering you have manual transmission, plus I had a 1:00 lap but the back end whipped out a bit too much and hit the wall. Not that i'm making excuses.... [mXm] BalzOnYer4Head
Haha were just knockin the rust off here, Rece laps if you will. For shits and giggle I stook the Ferrari F2007 on the same track and the best I could do was a 41.849. Holy shit that car is hard to drive! [mXm] andy19
I'll try to run my laps tomorrow if the wife lets me. I need to get another HDMI cable for my PS3 as well, which I'll do at lunch tomorrow. Looking forward to running the laps with the new surround sound though! MY LIFELONG DREAM HAS COME TRUE!!!!! I've beat Balz in a lap challenge! 1:10.357 w/ wheel, manual gearbox As a side note, that was the most fun running laps I've had. Something about that car matched up with that track just brings a great feeling. The first few laps were bad though, it's a pretty tricky track. Some of those corners are a lot slower than you think. [mXm] BalzOnYer4Head
Well done! Thats only 2 seconds off the WR! Guess I need to go get the wheel now.
[mXm] andy19
The wheel definitely takes some getting used to. My first 10 or so laps of the night were ridiculous, I was used to the controller again and the wheel is just too much of a change to pick it up and drive well right away, especially the manual gearbox. I had some awesome laps until I forgot to shift gears after a turn...takes about 1/2 second off the lap each time.
[mXm] andy19
Ferrari F430 Daytona Road Course All assists off, professional physics, manual gearbox. 1:59.417 Terrible time, but I was having a hell of a time trying to keep the car stable on that course for some reason. I'll run some more laps later but I wanted to get a new track/car down. Edit: Ran laps again putting auto gearbox and TC to 2, just to see what the difference would be, and I ran a 1:55.526. The TC definitely makes a huge difference! On a side note, I think I've found a control scheme that helps me use the manual gearbox much easier with the controller. I use the right analog stick and push up and down for gear changes, instead of using L1 and R1.
[mXm] BalzOnYer4Head
Ive got some laps to run! As far as your control scheme, I have always used the right analog as gas and brake as I find its easier to modulate the throttle. Ive always used L1 and R1 through the entire franchise as my shifting. I tried using the right analog as a means to shift, but I kept having a problem with the stick snapping back and shifting down again. So I went back to my tried and true. Off to run some laps. I'm also working on a basic web app to submit lap times...hopefully it'll be up and going shortly, instead of posting the times here in separate posts where it can be disorganized. [mXm] BalzOnYer4Head
Cool! Edit: Just ran a 1'10"917 in the Vette on the highspeed ring, im comin for ya! Update to edit: Have been sittin on a 1'10"592 for a little bit now, have found where to shave off two tenths of that but some how I end up losing it in the chicane that exits into the tunnel. With the analog sticks. What view you use? me = Third person

Holy crap I almost bit off more than I could chew by sayin I could beat it with the Dual Shock, but, after 5 straight hours with some breaks in between, I finally fucking did it. That car and track pisses me off. The slightest little graze of the wall, and lap invalidated, give it ANY gas whilst in a turn and it spins out. I didnt beat it by much, but I beat it. I'll work on the Ferrari F430 challenge tomorrow. That was fun! I need a wheel though.

I find it lets me get a sense of where the car is a little better, and still gives me a good view of the track ahead. The only thing is, without the wheel I can't tell when the back end is loose until it's too late.
