[mXm] BOLD Edition
My build is being compiled in a couple of places, the most up to date will be here; NOTE: some items may disappear over time as I am purchasing now through July.http://amzn.com/w/2KD30BXII4H2NI've already purchased two of these displays and am running one of them on the PS4 at the moment:http://amzn.com/B00B2HH7G0As I was typing this, I completed the purchase of the keyboard I wanted:http://www.razerzone.com/store/razer-blackwidow-tournament-edition-chromaStill deciding on the mouse and headset, but that will come later. [mXm] andy19
Sigh....I get too caught up in things sometimes. My current workstation/"gaming" rig is old as fuck and can't really be upgraded due to a shitty OEM motherboard.I do however have a media PC that I built with individual components that doesn't really get used a whole lot, although it has an older socket FM1 motherboard that's getting almost impossible to find new CPUs for.So I went on eBay and found myself a CPU that will work, that's a decent upgrade, and I'll be buying a Radeon 7850 from a guy in town.So old specs of media PC:MSI A55P3 motherboardAMD A4 3400 2.7ghz dual core APUATI 4350 video card4GB DDR1333 RAMNew specs once everything comes in (about a $190CDN cost, or ~$150USD)MSI A55P3 motherboard (same)AMD Athlon II X4 641 2,8GHz quad core CPU ($50 ebay)ATI 7850 2GB GDDR5 GPU ($100 local Kijiji buy)8GB DDR1333 RAM (extra 4GB stick, $40 from Canada Computers)It's not a massive upgrade, but for the cost I think it'll be worthwhile.Even if ArmA 3 turns out to be a bust, it'll be nice having a faster computer for work and whatnot. This POS is really starting to show its age. Edited April 21, 2015 by andy19 BOLD Edition
[mXm] kotaco
Here's the new setup in the mancave: PS4 is located on a wall mounted TV on the opposite wall, that TV also runs HDMI into the tower and can act as a third display if needed. [mXm] andy19
Upgraded PSU (from donor computer), added 4GB ram (8 total), and a video card that barely fit. I'm almost ready, just need to get a 6-pin PCI-e cable to plug in the monster video card and I'll be set. kotaco

Induced_Horizon
Think i might just invest in a good vid card next pay day. [mXm] andy19
R7 is a series of video cards. There will be a more specific number with it, like 260, 270, etc. 2GB is a good start, but GDDR3 is generally used a few generations ago. Not saying it's bad, just a bit older. You should be able to tell exactly what card you have by running 'dxdiag' from the text box at the bottom of the start menu. The card you have will be under the 'Display' tab. If that doesn't work, download CPU-Z or Aida64. Those will tell you more about your computer. Induced_Horizon
There will be a more specific number with it, like 260, 270, etc. actually the # is 240 .... so that must be old ...... I will just have to upgrade it next pay day
Induced_Horizon
successfully played a game on the computer and got about 2 kills in the 40 min I played ... using a mouse and keyboard ....This is going to take some learning to get use to ... will look in to some PC controllers I think ... not going to try and fight with getting the ps4 controler to work yet Edited April 28, 2015 by Induced_Horizon
[mXm] andy19
It does take some time to get used to. I still get hung up on some controls after 20+ hours.I suggest going to the NATO missions that I mentioned in another thread. It's only you and the open world with your weapons and all the vehicles at your disposal to get used to. Induced_Horizon
