Induced_Horizon
I was wondering why I always had to re set my router ..... Well this is why (based on my own personal findings)I bought this new tower last week and went ahead and got a usb wireless keyboard and mouse to boot ... I hooked up the wired mouse and keyboard when I first started the computer and was amazed how fast it was ... after all the setup and all I figured now is a good time to hook up the wireless stuff ... right off the bat I noticed a slow down ... things where still moving fast but you could tell there was a slow down ... I wanted to see how it would stream a TV show from CBS.com . Watched some NCIS ... The video wouldn't run in full HD ... There was even some buffering ... was not happy .... was thinking I just spent $750 for a tower I am going to have to through $ at just to play games ...After I watched my show I wanted to get online with some friends on the PS4 ... wanted to see how the wireless keyboard would work on that I unplugged the keyboard and mouse from the tower and plugged it in to the ps4 ...seen my friend online so I sent him a message to get on Hardline ... MY ps4 was having trouble sending a message ... so naturally I reboot my PS4 ... try again and the same thing happened .... I knew the only change I made to the ps4 was the wireless stuff so I unplugged it and went back to the wired keyboard ... All things back to normal ... I played a few hours and got offline .... (never used the wireless keyboard and mouse again ....that I just bought ) Story is not done yet ... I was still having to reset my router ... The new tower was still not playing TV shows without buffering ..I started to do the analytics and realized my laptop had a wireless mouse attached to it .... Couldn't hurt to unplug it and see what happens ... as soon as I unplugged it from my laptop computer , my gaming computer that was playing a tv show at the time NEVER buffered again .... that desktop computer ran faster then anything I could imagine at the time ... Full HD and no buffering .. no to mention my laptop started running faster then I have ever seen it the entire time I have owned the laptop ... so just for shits and giggles I went to CBS.com and watched an episode of big bang while the desktop computer was playing Scorpian ... Simultaneous HD on both computers with no buffering ...I know you want the story to be done here but there is one more ...Finding this out with my home computers . I have a slow computer at work with a wireless mouse ... unplugged it and now it is twice as fast as it was ... it is a very slow computer anyway so there was no checking if it would play HD ... it has no processing power what so ever ....Main point is ... if your device is running on wifi and you are running something wireless with it ... it might be slowing your stuff down .... keep in mind this is just figured out by my own observations of my equipment ... results may very ..... Have never had to reset my router since as well Edited May 4, 2015 by Induced_Horizon
[mXm] BalzOnYer4Head
You should be able to change the channel on the router. Most routers come with the ability to do this on wifi because of the saturation of the 2.4 Ghz spectrum. andy19

[mXm] andy19
Balz hit the nail on the head. Some routers even have a function that will scan each channel for you to find the best one. If you have any close neighbours that happen to be on the same channel, that could be causing some interference as well.Just change your channel and see if it helps with the interference. If it doesn't help, change to the next one and try again.
[mXm] kotaco
Yup, my router operates on 2 different frequencies and bounces devices between whichever is performing the best at the time, while also constantly scanning for the least crowded channel. No issues with any WiFi devices. We often have the tower on, a laptop or tablet going and up to 3 SmartTVs streaming with 0 perceived loss. [mXm] andy19
I've been going with TP-Link routers for a while now. Cheap but good performance. This is the one I'm currently using, and so far it's been great.http://www.amazon.com/TP-LINK-TL-WDR3600-Wireless-Gigabit-300Mbps/dp/B008RV51EE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1430759907&sr=8-1&keywords=tp-link+wdr3600
[mXm] kotaco
I'm a fan of Netgear, but we use TP-Link at work and those aren't bad either. Best router I have ever owned thus far:http://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-Nighthawk-AC3200-Tri-Band-R8000/dp/B00KWHMR6G(Bear in mind though that a router is only as good as the modem that feeds it).
