Remember that deal where if you preordered SOCOM 4 you'd get a shotgun and the classic SOCOM map Abandoned? Well now you also get that for free if you're a Playstation Plus subscriber, but only for the next month. Zipper most likely trying to get you addicted now while everyone is getting the PS Plus membership for free so when it's over you'll want to buy into the SOCOM Pro membership (if you haven't already) once the free trial is up.

In more important news, Zipper has also announced they will be releasing 2 new guns and 3 new multiplayer maps free for SOCOM Pro members in the SOCOM Pro Assualt Pack. The new guns were requested by the community and are one of the only things Zipper actually acknowledged and responded to.. (Yes I'm taking a stab at them for ignoring the literally hundreds of pleas on their forums for a more classic SOCOM experience.) Those guns are the M16 and AK-47.

The three new maps included are all brand new, no classics in this package. I wouldn't exactly count on seeing much more of classic SOCOM at this point as it is becoming evident that isn't the direction Zipper wants to take for some reason. "The maps, inspired by missions from the single-player campaign, have been designed to feature tighter spaces with intense 8 vs. 8 matches in mind (not that 32-player skirmishes aren’t a blast on all three maps)."
