[mXm] FlyersFan
I'm kinda curious to see how my connection stacks up against others. Here are my resullts:
[mXm] andy19
I wish. That's my speed at work. At home it's more like 4.5Mbps / 0.6Mbps. Out in the boons we don't get the same offering as city slickers. Canada's infrastructure for interwebs blows.
[mXm] gordy
Terrible i know, i just had it downgraded. Do you guys ask how much you pay for your internets?
[mXm] JerZ
We haveOptimum Boost, we have the triple play bundle so we pay 113 a month.
[mXm] andy19
This is my real test. It's supposed to be a 6Mbps/800kbps line, but with DSL is really depends on how far away from the CO you are. I pay $34.99/month + $16/month since it's a dry loop line (no proper phone service for the data to come through) + $4/month for static IP. Ends up being about $60/month after taxes and everything. I live about 40km (25mi) outside of Ottawa. If I lived right in the city I'd be able to get the same deals, but I'm stuck with only one option for internet. [mXm] BalzOnYer4Head
Also, lol @ Kotaco's "F+" rating. If it wasn't for wireless companies moving away from unlimited data packages, you could get better speed out of a 4G wifi hotspot for your online gaming. I actually don't get cell phone service at my house. If I go 2 houses down in either direction it goes back up to 2 bars, in my yard its 1 bar. And anywhere inside the house I get 0 bars. [mXm] andy19
Do you guys have data caps for your internet service? If we go with the big 3 companies here (Bell, Rogers, Telus) the caps are ridiculously low (usually 60GB), with huge penalties for going over ($2-$3/GB). The company I'm with actually uses the big company's lines, but charges less and gives either a 300GB cap or Unlimited.
[mXm] BalzOnYer4Head
Not for home service no. But all the wireless companies are moving away from it. Verizon is "teasing" the idea of not renewing the grandfathered of us on unlimited packages, when we use an upgrade. So it looks like I will be getting my nex tphone off ebay or something.
