It became fairly successful and grew to over 200 community members, I'm not really sure why we ended up closing it. Staff: Dakota - Owner/ Webmaster Extreal - Lead Site Admin Wolfe - Senior Programmer BlaZe - Forum Moderator -bRaVe- Graphic Designer History: The Designers Lounge, also known as TDL, was originally created in December of 2003. We opened thanks to a fairly well known graphics site at the time known as Xplozive Designs and its owner Xplozian (Chris) and his and his staffs support and enouragement. We opened with the idea of creating a community for graphic designers of all skill levels and ages. Our aim was to allow these designers to help each other learn and develop or master new techniques and artistic styles. While the idea itself seemed golden, the resources and software we had available to maintaining TDL was meager. The first version of TDL was created on Hyper-Boards, a pretty bad quality free forum host. Soon after that it was ProBoards and the finally onto Shroogle, a free phpBB forum host. As you can imagine, all the site switches and changes didn’t go over smoothly with the scarce community we did have. Although during our stay with Shroogle, TDL became the official request service for the company, ironically it was the opposite of what we aimed to be, but we did what we had to in order to keep our name out there. Finally, after almost a year to a year and a half of trying and trying again, our skills with HTML and knowledge of how websites should work improved. We acquired the proper software such as Photoshop, Dreamweaver and Flash, and were setup TDL V3 on a reliable web server although under a sub domain. The first design for V3 was unique although some say it resembled other sites so was changed to a template until the release of V4. Now Version 4 of TDL is finally here, and as you can see we’ve come a long way. We are operating TDL under a domain using a completely custom design and custom coded CMS (Content Management System) and able to bring you tutorials, downloads, a topsite, free image hosting and more. I would do it, but YOU think my art is CRAP so unless I hear you say, and MEAN it "Your Enterprise is pretty sweet", no sig for you.
