GTA V Is Here

Grand Theft Auto V, arguably the most anticipated game of the 7th generation, has finally arrived.

With a 265 million dollar estimated budget, an open sandbox world boasting a bigger size than GTA IV, Read Dead Redemption and San Andreas combined, along with better game mechanics, vehicle handling, and a more lively world, it is proving to be the first real peek at what the next-generation has to offer.

2 weeks from today Rockstar will launch the online component of the game which, from early trailers, is looking to be almost another complete experience entirely, much much different from the rushed online modes of GTA IV.

The hacked source code of the game has given hints at a PC and PS4 port coming soon, but for now, you'll find mXm hanging on in Los Santos on PS3.

After about 6 hours into it, right before I take a quick nap and back at it again, initial impressions.

The mechanics are definitely better. It is night and day. Aiming was always a bitch for me in these games, and this snap to target makes it awesome. Driving is better too, and I notice less of the "son of a bitch there is a car in the intersection right in the spot I needed to go" instances, than in IV.

Storyline is engaging, plenty of breaks in between to quick save, everything looks fantastic, the cars are sweet, handle better than their predecessors .

Sony is working with publishers to do a $10 PS3 to PS4 upgrade program, I'd predict they'd work with R* to do the same, at least I hope.

Game is sweet, at first I was like.. Ok, it's cool but it's not thaaaat much better. Then I got to a level that put me above the map in a plane and that's when the jaw-dropping moment got me, the draw distances are insane and from the air the fullness of the city is incredible, there's also so much to do and find that you don't expect at all, but I won't spoil anything for you guys.

I really hope they do. When I heard they were making it for PS4 as well, I had to stop and think whether I wanted to get it for PS3 or not.

Only thing is .. you are going to have to start the game all over again when you upgrade .
I think I will wait till the PS4 version

I'm sure if they offer the upgrade program they'll have a system to migrate saved games too.

I'd think so, BF4 is set up that way. There was dev code for next gen found in this release so it'll probably just be a port when they do release it making transferring info easy

The key word missing here is "DIGITAL" upgrade. I read today that SONY is offereing a digital upgrade of $9.99 on select games. That's no good as I want a physical copy that I can trade in and not hog up my harddrive. I have yet to read anywhere that says physical copy upgrade.

Let me know if you find anything otherwise.

Here is the link I read it from:

I'd be okay with a digital upgrade, but how would that work? Have your PS3 physical copy in the drive while playing the PS4 digital copy?

Edit - I'm a forum noob, replying before actually reading the link. That's exactly how it works..

To play the PS4 version of the game when it becomes available, you’ll need to insert the original PS3 disc in your PS4 to activate and play the PS4 version, so hang onto that PS3 disc!
