Member Map - Brought back and old favorite. Just enter your town, state or address and it'll do the rest.

I had an idea for the member map. What if we could assign a color to each member, (randomly) and than that individual cold also mark other places he has been all over the world? Could be a great ice breaker for new members whilst we run a quasi, map based, and not very accurate background check whem members sign up!

Right now it's setup with 3 different markers.

Blue - Your Pin
Red - Registered Members
Green - Your Friends

To do what you want it would require recoding the entire application, and I just borrowed it so I'm not familiar with the coding of it.

The Google Maps API is pretty easy to customize with icons. It's been about 6-8 months since I was developing Maps API stuff but I know there are some relatively easy ways of implementing specific user colour-coded pins. A quick read through the Maps API Documentation shows it.

I was actually looking into using GeoIP to automatically plot markers for users and guests, but once gain coding is not my strong point. Thats more in Andys realm

It's not hard to find out where you live ;) Especially when you post photos all over Facebook :P

And actually the GeoIP thing just pulls the location of your Internet Provider, so it only gets as accurate as a general city area. But that would require me switching over to a different forum software anyhow, which isn't going to happen :P
